Under the Blood Red Sun Ch. 9-12

Looks like the Kaka'ako Boys are gonna be harder to beat with the Butcher on their side. He sounds like a really huge, tough, and dumb person. Who do the guys of the gang think they are? Pretending that their tough and all. If I were there, their faces will be split in half.

So the war begins. I can't believe Tomi and Billy were playing in the grass one minute, and the next, the whole island was covered in darkness. I wonder why Grampa was waving the flag. Maybe he wanted to get shot. That was a stupid thing to do. I felt sorry for all the people of Hawaii . So flustered and confused. Not knowing what to do. I never imagined how it would feel like to be a normal person at Hawaii on the day Pearl harbor was attacked. Now I know.

Why were those men looking for Tomi's dad? What did he do? He could be a spy. Why would those soldiers assume the pigeons were messenger pigeons. Pigeons can't fly from Hawaii to Japan ! Can they? Still why did they have to tell them to kill the birds. Poor innocent creatures.

Golden lines: pg. 106 “My heart pounding. I raced into the trees after Billy, nearly blinded by snapping branches.”

Pg. 107 “Amber, with a …symbol of Japan .”

Pg. 114 “For the first time I could remember I say Mama crying.”

Under the Blood Red Sun Chapter 13

Chapter 13 was a sad chapter because they had to bury the butsudan which the grandfather really loves. I was really worried because Tomi didn't know where Billy was. It was sad that Papa was in jail nad that Sanji died. I'm really interested in this book. I was mad that Keet told about the pigeons, but I was glad that Tomi saw Jake's good side. It was cool that Grampa gave that cool knife to Tomi. He deserves it. It must have been hard to make those bomb shelters but its pretty cool I know this story will be very dramatic.

Golden line: “I tossed around in my bed trying to sleep, but kept waking from dreams of

blood…pumping from the pigeon's throat.”
