Some words about me

Meena Singhal is the Dean of Library and Academic Services at Long Beach City College overseeing the areas of Enrollment Management, Curriculum, Schedule, Catalog, Study Abroad, Extended Instruction, and Library.

Previously she has served as the Dean of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciencs, and Library at Santiago Canyon College located in Orange, California.
She has also taught courses in computer-assisted writing and academic reading in the Department of English as a Second Language at Long Beach City College and teaching methods courses including Theories and Methods of English Language Development for Elementary Students and First and Second Language Acquisition in the Department of Education at the University of California, Irvine. She has also taught all levels of ESL and English Composition at various colleges and universities in both Canada and the United States. Her research interests include second language reading and writing, reading and computer-enriched instruction, reading assessment, curriculum development, diversity education, and online teaching strategies. Recent books include Teaching Reading to Adult Second Learners: Theoretical Foundations, Pedagogical Applicaitons, and Current Issues and Landing a College Job: A Practical Guide for English, ESL, and Foreign Language Job Seekers.

Dr. Singhal is also the founding and current editor of The Reading Matrix: An International Online Journal and the International Chair of the International Online Conference on Second and Foreign Language Teaching and Research. She has also been recognized by Pi Lambda Theta (International Honor Society and Professional Association in Education) as a young scholar contributing to the field of second language education.
